In 1901 there were a range of shops in Wolverhampton Street, including

•Joseph King, Master Baker
•Ann Elizabeth Beard, Tobacconist
•Walter Thomas Purser, Grocer Provision Merchant
•Walter Thrupp, Baker
•Samuel Hurst, Leather Merchant

Further back in 1850, the following shops in Wolverhampton Street were listed in the Post Office Directory
•Josiah Coleman, brushmaker and hairdresser
•  Mrs Mary Croshaw, Beer Retailer
•Thomas Holland, Baker
•  Mrs Sarah Fisher, Maltster and Grocer
•William Fletcher, shopkeeper and carrier
•Michael Foley, tailor
•Frederick Fortnam, Baker
•Richard Pedley, boot and shoe maker
•John Tildesley, Post Master

There were also a lot of lock and key makers and other manufacturers listed.

In the Pigot and Co's Directory of Staffordshire 1842 Wolverhampton Street has these shops:

•Thomas Burrows, Shopkeeper and dealer in groceries and sundries
•William Fletcher,Shopkeeper and dealer in groceries and sundries
•Richard Pedley,Shopkeeper and dealer in groceries and sundries
•John Foley, Tailor and Draper
•Charles Berry, Bookseller, stationer and printer
• John Harper, Glass, china &c dealer

Not much is listed for Wolverhampton Street in the 1818 'New Directory of the County of Stafford'. This probably includes what is now Market Place.

•Thomas Millward, tailor
•John Tristram, grocer and chandler
•Joseph Turner, victualler, plumber, glazier and painter, Angel (later classed as market Place)
